Community Updates
I actually have some big news this month - assuming nothing changes in the next week, I am moving! Why should you care, you ask? Well, maybe you shouldn’t care TOO much, but we WILL be getting an updated studio at some point, which is objectively pretty cool. At first, I will set up a bar area as similar as possible to my previous bar in order to keep content moving, but then we will get creative with a new podcast studio!
Whether or not you care about that, please be patient as I post a bit less the next few weeks amidst the chaos… much love, y’all
Up and Comer?! Leather and Oak
I hope it goes without saying, but this is not a paid review - I just want to share something cool with you guys.
This is the most interesting bourbon I have tried in a long time, so while I still have yet to post about it, I wanted to let you guys know! I recently got to try Leather and Oak Bourbon, and it was a wild ride.

As soon as I popped the cork, I could smell that it was SUPER sweet. Like caramel and butterscotch sweet. When I took a sip, I was NOT disappointed. With super strong notes of caramel, maybe even molasses, and just a tiny bit of the classic bourbon spice, this was one of the most unique bottles I’ve received in a long time. I actually kept checking the bottle to make sure it wasn’t finished because I couldn’t believe how much it tasted like it had a finish to it. A quick google search led me to discover that Leather and Oak uses a pot still for their distillation rather than a column still, which is likely what creates that huge amount of flavor.
Now don’t get me wrong - this WILL be too sweet for some of you. You could even argue it isn’t super complex. But is SERIOUSLY unique, and right up my alley on nights where I want something a little sweeter. Honestly, I’m just floored that it tastes the way that it tastes without any finishing or flavoring. Then I found out they were from Ohio, and I decided then-and-there that I needed to talk more about it! Maybe I will do a video with it soon…
Either way, it was cool enough that I new I wanted more people to know about it. I imagine their distribution is super limited for now, but if you see it and you like what I described, its worth a try!
Cigar Review: Medio Tiempo

I like all of the cigars that we have in the Perfect Pairing Club, but every once in a while, one shows up that really knocks my socks off. This time, its the Medio Tiempo from La Gloria Cubana! Starting with rich, sweet notes like cocoa and then moving to spice and leather, I enjoyed this cigar from start to finish (“finish” being about half of the stick, as I had to do another cigar review the same night).
I paired this bad boy with Milam and Greene Unabridged Volume 3, and as you might have seen if you follow the Perfect Pairing Club on Instagram, it was FANTASTIC. The whiskey sweetened up the cigar, but didn’t lose its complexity… I gave it a 9.4/10.
I suspect this cigar would go well with any strong, full bodied bourbon. If you see it at your local brick and mortar, I say try it!
