Noobsletter: April 2025
Community Updates
Nothing game changing this month, just chugging along toward the goal of bringing Whiskey Noobs back weekly! I promise I have real goals and numbers behind that, but I can’t exactly get into specific financials on here. What I will say is this: meeting the Patreon goals will help me cut out other major, time consuming earners from my life, which is why I will then be able to podcast more. It’s NOT just me saying I want more money to make stuff, I promise! Right now we are on track, so fingers crossed!
Solo Blind Giveaway!

It’s not too late! If you didn’t see, we gave away a Solo Blind along with our usual bottle giveaway on the Patreon last month. The April drawing is already over, but have no fear if you missed it - we are doing it again for May!
This month’s bottle is Blanton’s Gold, so by signing up for the Patreon you are automatically entered to win a bottle of Blanton’s Gold OR a Solo Blind! Whichever winner is drawn first gets to pick their prize, and then the second winner gets the remaining prize! Learn more about how to get more entries and which states we can ship to at patreon.com/whiskeynoobs.
Cigar Review: Boneshaker Maul

This month’s cigar is not for the faint of heart, but boy does it have some flavor! My first few puffs of the Boneshaker Maul left me feeling the spice, but then as my palate acclimated, the deeper, sweeter notes showed up. The real kicker that won this cigar a spot in my newsletter was pairing with it. When I added a bit of whiskey into the mix, it started to taste a lot like one of my favorite cigars: The Warfighter Night Shift!
Construction: I can’t speak too deeply to the construction because I had to cut my smoke short with this one (sad face). For the bit of time that I did spend smoking it, though, it didn’t have any issues
Profile: At first, this cigar has all the pepper and leather one would ever want - almost too much if you like sweeter stuff. But then, as you get a little farther into it, the milk chocolate sweetness shows up. Keep in mind, the spicy notes are still there, but they are more balanced by the dark, rich tobacco notes. Finally, when paired with something sweet and rich like Minden Mill American Single Malt, the sweetness gets even more amped up, making this a smooth, tasty smoke with wayyy less punch to it - right up my alley!
